Policy Advocacy and Engagement

We will actively engage with the Ghanaian government, relevant ministries (e.g., Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Finance), and parliamentary committees to advocate for policies that directly benefit diaspora farmers. This includes:

  1. Incentive Programs: Lobbying for the creation and effective implementation of tailored incentive programs, such as tax breaks, subsidies on agricultural inputs (fertilisers, seeds), and access to affordable credit specifically for diaspora-led agricultural projects.
  2. Duty Waivers: Advocating for comprehensive duty waivers on imported agricultural machinery, equipment, and processing technologies. This is crucial for reducing initial investment costs and encouraging the adoption of modern farming practices. Recent discussions and announcements regarding waivers on agri-processing machinery are a positive step, and we will push for broader application to all essential farming equipment.
  3. Favorable Agricultural Policies: Influencing the development of long-term agricultural policies that prioritize sustainable practices, promote value addition, and integrate diaspora farmers into national agricultural development plans. This includes advocating for policies that streamline regulatory processes and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
